Laos, Thailand, and Burma come together in the Golden Triangle, known mainly for its reputation as an opium growing and distribution region. A large gold Buddha sits high above the Mekong River. Long-tail boats cruise across the river to a hill-tribe village in Laos. Chinese barges move down river past a new casino on the Burmese side.
