Visiting the sites of a former Nazi concentration camp causes most people to silently and reverently pay their respects to the millions of Jews who were lost during WWII. Tears and prayers are mingled with a determined wish that, "This will never happen again." There are several areas to view, Auschwitz and nearby Birkenau. Rows of barracks and barbed wire are a chilling reminder of the terrors that devastated Europe. And always above the gate, "Arbeit Macht Frei"," Work Sets You Free", the big lie that was not about work, but about death.
