Dinosaurs and hoodoos are the main features around Drumheller in Alberta's Badlands. The town established in 1910, once a coal mining center, now holds the Royal Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology opened in 1985. The dinosaur bones exhibited in the museum were excavated from the surrounding area. Nearby hoodoos formed from eroded shale exposed sandstone pillars of unusual shapes.
