Oakland Hills

The Oakland California Temple of the Latter-day Saints sits in the Oakland hills with spectacular views of San Francisco Bay, bridges and skyline. While the interior of the temple cannot be visited, the landscaped grounds and a terrace encourage strolling and photography. Visit Mountain View Cemetery, designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted in 1863, an historic place with boulevards and stately trees. Many of California's famous rest here, notably Henry J. Kaiser, Julia Morgan, Frank Norris, and Charles Crocker. Solitary walks along leaf covered paths and winding roads pass many styles of monuments to loved ones.
