Yosemite National Park
In Yosemite, almost four million visitors every year marvel at immense, ice-carved cliffs and thundering waterfalls. The land that eventually became Yosemite National Park was first protected by Congress in 1864, until 1890 when the park was created. Hiking, camping, and rock climbing in the summer, and skiing in the winter are popular activities. The Yosemite Valley where most visitors spend their time struggles with traffic jams and pollution during the summer months. Winters are peaceful as access to most of the park is closed due to snow.
