Fleet Week

San Francisco has a long history of naval presence. Since 1981, with absences in 2001 and 2004, the U. S. Navy Blue Angels have participated in the annual air show during October's Fleet Week. A million visitors gaze skyward during 2 weekend afternoon shows that thunder over the Bay Area. Other events include a Parade of Ships into the San Francisco Bay beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, vintage planes, an aerobatic race, and open house on many ships.
