The largest public Japanese garden in the United States is in Golden Gate Park. The garden was expanded from an exhibition garden for the 1894 World's Fair. An atmosphere of peace and tranquility surrounds this garden designed by Baron Makoto Hagiwara and filled with every type of plant and landscape element from Japan.
