Opera Under the Stars

The San Francisco Opera season opener, Madama Butterfly, was simulcast to a large appreciative audience in Civic Center Plaza, one block from the Opera House. A large screen showed the singers and staging and large speakers broadcast the orchestra and singing. This was a first for opera fans who dressed warmly for the evening performance.
