Antelope Valley

A large poppy reserve in the Mojave Desert northeast of Los Angeles blooms every spring, carpeting rolling hills with yellow from gold fields, purple from lupine and bright orange from the poppies. The intensity of the bloom varies with the amount of snow the previous winter; more snow generally means more poppies.
