The climate of the Big Island has enough rain and moisture that parts of the lower slopes of Kilauea are a rainforest, dense with ferns, dripping constantly. Hilo is a very wet city and has a wonderful river canyon a few miles out of town where Rainbow Falls is located. The splash of the falls creates rainbows when the light is perfect.
