Only 284 stairs, only 560 vertical feet, only 0.8 miles, yet the summit of Diamond Head makes you feel like you've climbed much higher. This hot and stony hike switchbacks up the inside crater wall, rewarding you with magnificent views of urban Honolulu, the aquamarine Pacific, and a multitude of sandy crescents and palm trees, once you reach the crest of this dormant volcano.
