The Cloisters

At the far north of Manhattan, The Cloisters, a serene museum featuring art and architecture of the Middle Ages, sits in Fort Tryon Park. Tapestries and relics are displayed in a setting of stone walls that were reassembled from five medieval cloisters transported from France from 1934-1938. Sheltered courtyard gardens flourish among the columned walkways.
