Mammoth Hot Springs

Microorganisms called thermophiles thrive in the extremely hot waters at Mammoth Hot Springs. They tint the travertine in shades of brown, orange and yellow. Pools of water flow down slopes forming terraces. This active seismic area is filled with steaming vents and rushing waters.
