The most famous symbol of Yellowstone, Old Faithful, still draws crowds to its frequent and on schedule eruptions. While not the largest geyser, its regularity is prized. Steam and hot water transform the whole basin. The ground, wet with hot water streams, and colored by microorganisms, rumbles with underground movement. Boardwalks cover the sensitive surface and lead visitors around the geysers.
